Concert Prep Checkpoints PDF Print E-mail
Courses - Supplemental Materials
Saturday, 15 November 2008 20:24
On Friday, November 14, 2008 students were given a listing of excerpts from the concert repertoire currently being prepared. Students are expected to prepare each of these excerpts for a quiz grade, and there will be three scheduled checkpoints between now and the concert. This allows the students the flexibility to quickly dispense with playing quizzes that are easier for them, and take more time on those that are more difficult. In other words, it allows each individual student the opportunity to work, at least to a small degree, on their own timeline. It also holds all members of the ensemble responsible for a successful performance. Each and every student must has total mastery of their individual part if the concert is to be successful. Within this article find copies of the handouts which contain the assigned excerpts as well as more complere information.

Registration forms for ISSMA Solo & Ensemble are now available both in the rehearsal room and for download within this article. Forms are due back no later than November 24th with district payment. Solos are $12 and ensembles are $6 per member. Checks need to be made payable to Harrison High School and turned in to MrG. Please, no cash! If you have any questions please consult the information in the form, and then contact MrG.

We are hoping for 80% participation this year. Those interested in participating but not interested in performing a solo are encouraged to sign-up for a chamber ensemble. The sign-up sheet is posted in the rehearsal room.
