On Saturday, January 23, 2010 the Harrison band will host members of the Plaza and McGary Middle School bands for a pep band rehearsal and performance. Students from the middle schools will sit in with the band and play along wearing their "Instrumental Music Class of 2014" t-shirts provided by the instrumental music boosters. The boosters will also be providing a pizza dinner for all students between the rehearsal and performance and will be holding an informational parent meeting in conjunction with the event. Report time for high school students has been moved to 5:15 PM with a 5:30 PM rehearsal start. High school students are being asked to bring a 2-liter of beverage or some chips/cookies. There is no charge for the pizza to either middle or high school students.

The up-to-date Pep Band calendar and policy is now available for download via the link below. Please note that there have been some date changes for some performances. Be sure to use this schedule and not the Calendar Overview. Except for percussion all students are assigned to pep band and are required to attend all games. Please download the file below for complete information.

Recently we took a moment of class time in several classes to discuss the rise of the use of Auto-Tune,a program originally designed to correct pitch discrepancies in the recording studio but more recently used to create vocal effects for artists such a T-Pain (although Cher originally used the effect). Click "read more" for the PBS NOVA scienceNOW video we watched in class, and for a link to more resources.

Below is the download link for the most current Calendar Overview for the 2009-2010 school year. This document provides as much detail as possible regarding the events scheduled to take place during the school year, including rehearsals, performances, some fundraisers, and extra activities. This is an essential document for every instrumental music family to have a copy of. The Calendar Overview always takes precedence over any information shared via the web calendar, email, word of mouth, or other source. It will be the final reference point for decisions regarding notification of required events.

It is now possible (and preferable) for you to submit an Excused-Absence Request Form online. Simply follow the link below (a link can also be found under tools on the menu above)  and complete all sections of the form. Click submit and the form will be delivered immediately to MrG. Remember that an Excused-Absence Request Form must be submitted for all absences in order for a decision to be made regarding whether the absence is excusable.
